Group Training

Earn up to 9 clock hours and $225 in stipends in just 2 days at a MO-SECA Academy!

All Missouri early childhood administrators are invited to join these group training experiences to connect with fellow early childhood providers and learn together about proven leadership and business strategies.

The MO-SECA team recommends you choose at least one Business Academy and one Leadership Academy to attend in 2024. MO-SECA will provide hotel accommodations to support your attendance.

One-on-One Coaching

Work with a highly trained early childhood specialist dedicated to supporting you and your self-identified goals in a personalized coaching experience.

After you complete your program enrollment form (located in your confirmation email) and attend your MO-SECA orientation, you will be matched with your early childhood quality specialist.

RESOURCES

As a part of MO-SECA, you receive several free resources! Here’s what to expect:

  • Within two weeks of being an approved participant, you’ll receive an email with details to access your Show Me Child Care resources.
  • If you participate in either Writing a Business Plan or QuickBooks for Child Care Businesses, you’ll be contacted after with details on utilizing a free 1-year subscription of the relevant program.

Participant FAQ

How do I receive my stipends?

How much is the stipend?
For in person trainings: $25/hour of training sessions completed ($75 per 3-hour session).

For virtual trainings: $16.66/hour of training session completed ($49.98/hour of training).

Each participant can earn up to $450 total– $225 for leadership trainings and $225 for business trainings. The stipend goes to the person who participates in the training (not the program they represent).

Is the stipend also offered for participation in 1:1 coaching?
No.

Is the stipend offered for participation in program assessments?
Not for program assessments completed by the administrator. Small incentives will be available for other center staff who participate in a center-wide program assessment survey.

How will stipend payment work?
You can expect to receive a stipend within 90 days of your session attendance if you’ve submitted your W9. Be sure to submit your W9 when requested and to fill out the direct deposit form if you’d like to receive your subsidy via direct deposit.     Coaching & Assessment

    When will coaching sessions occur?
    Coaching sessions will occur at times that are convenient for both you and your coach. You will work with your coach directly to schedule these sessions.

    Who is my MO-SECA coach?
    If you’re unsure of who your MO-SECA coach is, reach out to Kelly Berry (kellyberry@umkc.edu).

    What assessments are part of MO-SECA? Will they impact my license?
    You can find the full suite of MO-SECA assessments on our program details page! Your coach will determine which assessments fit your organization based on the information you provide in your enrollment form. MO-SECA assessments do not impact your license.

      Who is delivering the leadership trainings?
      The leadership trainings will be provided through a partnership among University of Missouri – Kansas City Institute for Human Development (IHD), the UMKC Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership, the University of Missouri – St. Louis Community Innovation and Action Center (CIAC), and University of Missouri – Extension. The leadership trainings are based in the Whole Leadership framework .

      Who is delivering the business trainings?
      The business trainings are delivered by these organizations:

      • University of Missouri – Kansas City Institute for Human Development (IHD)
      • UMKC Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership
      • University of Missouri – St. Louis Community Innovation and Action Center (CIAC)
      • University of Missouri – Extension.
      • The Missouri Small Business Development Centers (SBDC)
      • Child Care Aware of Missouri (CCAMO)

      Will MO-SECA be offered in languages other than English?
      Not at this time. However, if you require an interpreter in order to fully participate, please let us know at least 2 weeks before the scheduled training and we will do our best to accommodate.

        Free LivePlan Subscription*

        MO-SECA participants who have completed the “Writing a Business Plan” training session receive a free initial license to LivePlan and one-on-one product support.

        Whole Leadership Resources Book*

        MO-SECA participants who complete the “Whole Leadership” training receive a copy of Building Whole Leadership.

        Free QuickBooks Subscription*

        MO-SECA participants who have completed the “QuickBooks for Childcare Businesses” training session receive an initial free subscription to QuickBooks Online and one-on-one product support.

        Missouri Child Care Subsidy

        According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, “the Child Care Subsidy Program increases children’s access to early learning and literacy by assisting eligible parents/guardians with payments for child care in Missouri.

        Providers can visit DESE’s website to learn more about how to become a subsidy provider.

        Free Show Me Child Care Resources Membership*

        MO-SECA participants receive a membership to Show Me Child Care Resources which provides materials, information, and savings opportunities.
